REDBEARD THE PIRATE TAKES VISITORS "SWASHBUCKLIN' BY THE SEA" AT THE TRADEWINDS ISLAND GRAND
WHO:
The TradeWinds Island Grand - a 585-room resort located along acres of sugary white beaches overlooking the Gulf of Mexico on the island of St. Pete Beach, Florida.
WHAT:
Aaargh! Redbeard the Pirate has taken up residence at the TradeWinds Island Grand and is hunting for "a crew of a few good pirates" to go "Swashbucklin' by the Sea." Brand new for 2003, the family-friendly pirate package includes a run-in with Redbeard, grog and grub at a popular TradeWinds hangout and "walking the plank" aboard a real replica pirate ship.
Swashbucklin' by the Sea Starting at $699 (Hotel Rooms); $869 (Suites)
Four Nights/Five Days Accommodations at TradeWinds Island Grand
Royal Conquest Pirate Cruise on the High Seas for Three
Boatload of Shrimp and a Pitcher of Beer at the Shrimp Shack
Redbeard's Pirate Show - exclusively at the TradeWinds (twice weekly)
Family "Dive-In" Movie - view a favorite family feature from the pool or a lounge chair
T.A.Z. pass for one child - a total of $50 for activities, crafts and fun
Extra benefits at each resort with Explorer Value Pass
The new Redbeard Pirate Show is performed twice weekly outdoors in front of a real-life, rustic black and white ship on the TradeWinds very own "Pirate Island". As the magnificent sun sets, the likeable pirate spins tall tales and conducts a sing along of memorable tunes for children and adults alike. Redbeard's "first mates" prepare the crew prior to the show by adorning them with face-paint, eye patches and tattoos. Kids can then search for treasures such as sharks' teeth on the Pirate Island beach or climb aboard the pirate ship (a.k.a. gondola) and cruise the "high seas" of the TradeWinds Island Grand. After the show, guests are invited to brave the waters and participate in the family "dive-in" movie including such favorites as the pirate-themed, "Hook." Before, during and after the show, the nearby, laid-back Shrimp Shack is open to visitors for food and fun with their shipmates.
Nearby, the Royal Conquest Pirate Cruise takes visitors around the waters of Treasure Island, Boca Ciega Bay (a great place to spot playful dolphins) and the Gulf of Mexico. During the voyage on the replica pirate ship, water gun battles and treasure hunts will ensue, there will be pirate stories aplenty and the little mates will be painted to resemble true pirates. Spirited pirates may want to participate in the dance party or in a friendly game of limbo.
WHEN: "Swashbucklin' by the Sea" is available Jan.5-Dec.24, 2003.
WHY:
Both tropical and traditional, the Island Grand is the TradeWinds' classic fun, family-friendly, Florida beachfront resort. The AAA Four-Diamond resort is completing a total renovation of all 585 spacious guest rooms, including 207 suites, which exude a warmer, island tropics ambiance. Complete in its offerings, perfect in its setting, relaxed in its attitude yet attentive in its approach, the TradeWinds Island Grand on Florida's Gulf Coast continually strives to provide the ultimate beach vacation experience.
WHERE:
Located on St. Pete Beach, the resort sits between its two sister properties - the TradeWinds Sandpiper Hotel & Suites and the TradeWinds Sirata Beach Resort - along a strand of beach directly on the Gulf of Mexico. St. Pete Beach was recently presented with the rare Blue Wave Award based on cleanliness, safety and environmentally sound management.
