A 4-D Movie & Out-Of-This-World Special Events
Debut at the Family Theme Park in time for Summer 2002
New this summer, the LEGOLAND* California family theme park in Carlsbad will enter new dimensions when it adds an interactive movie experience and an array of special events to the 128-acre park's current collection of more than 50 rides, shows and activities.
The new LEGO* Racers 4-D Movie is not just a 3-D film, but a multi-sensor experience that takes the audience straight into the wild and fun world of race car driving. Combining sophisticated 3-D imaging with a fourth dimension of theatre effects, LEGO Racers 4-D opens to the public at LEGOLAND California in May, 2002. Speeding into the theme park's 400-seat LEGO Showplace Theater, the new 11-minute film integrates animated actors and heart-pounding music while the audience dodges smoke, wind, snow, water, strobing lights and other special effects as the race roars to life
on a 36-foot big screen.
Also featured in 2002 will be special events and activities revolving around the new FOX KIDS Saturday morning TV show, GALIDOR(tm): Defenders of the Outer Dimension. Kids at LEGOLAND will have an out-of-this-world experience when they meet the lead GALIDOR characters Nicholas and his trusted companion Euripides, a frog-like ally who joins forces with Nicholas in restoring justice to the Outer Dimension. In addition, the complete LEGO GALIDOR toy line will be available in the park this June.
Since LEGOLAND opened in March 1999, 4.2 million kids of all ages have raced into the theme park to discover a world where learning is fun, creativity is nurtured and guests are the ones who make everything happen. Three roller coasters offer a wide range of thrills for different age groups, while most of the other rides and attractions require kids to drive, push, pull, pedal, steer, fly, pump, stomp, jump, build, explore, climb and, of course, laugh. More than 5,000 models made from LEGO bricks, many of them animated, inspire and challenge young builders to create something new in the construction areas around the park. There are even workshops where kids can learn to build and program robots.
"We're proud that LEGOLAND has carved out a special niche in the competitive world of family entertainment," said LEGOLAND President Bill Haviluk. "The park remains a very visible, very successful embodiment of the LEGO Company ideal - putting children first while providing fun, creative learning and embracing discovery. The shows and events we're adding this year continue to challenge, encourage and entertain youngsters, and inspire them to keep imagining."
Back this summer, is the popular July Fourth firework spectacular. A scale model of the nation's capitol, an animated Statue of Liberty in Miniland's New York Harbor and a huge flag-building event will fan guests' patriotic fervor during the day. After the sun sets, all eyes will be gazing up to watch brilliant colors paint the skies as patriotic music swells through the park.
The theme park is open daily Memorial Day to Labor Day and during specific holidays in the spring and winter. The remainder of the year the park operates five days a week, closing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. An operating calendar is available online at www.legoland.com or call 760-918-LEGO. General admission for kids 3-16 and seniors 60+, $33.95; Adults $39.95. Located at the Cannon Road exit off I-5 in Carlsbad just
30 minutes north of San Diego and one hour south of Anaheim.
LEGOLAND California is a 128-acre family theme park dedicated to families with children between the ages of 2 and 12. Just like with LEGO toys, kids are the ones who make things happen at the Park. They drive, pedal, squirt, climb, jump, stomp, slide, steer, pull, click, push, gallop, laugh, build and program their way through more than 50 rides and attractions. There are only two other LEGOLAND parks in the world - LEGOLAND(r) Billund in Denmark, and LEGOLAND(r) Windsor outside of London. A fourth LEGOLAND is under construction near Günzburg, Germany and will open this Spring. For the most current information, log on to
